2nd INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY - 2nd Annual Outreach for children in Stromovka Park
The 1st International Children's Day in Stromovka Park was a great success. Children had lots of fun but the event was also a learning experience for them - we raised quite a contribution which was donated for the renewal of Stromovka park damaged by the floods in year 2002.
This year we asked children to help with moving fish out of the flooded ponds into the cleaned Small River in Stromovka. Children had a lot of fun learning how to fish, in spite of rainy weather. They also enjoyed our jumping castle activity and other fun things to do.
Same as the first year, in organizing this event Project Antioch cooperated with many other non-profit and profit organizations. The International Children's Day in Stromovka Park is not only an outreach to children living in Prague but also a space for cooperation between the profit and non-profit sector. City Council of Prague, the Department of City Green, was the main co-operating organization.

3rd INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY - 3rd Annual Outreach for children in Stromovka Park (poster 1 MB)
To Stromovka to see the horses was very befitting since the children got to experience 3 types of horses! Over 1,000 children participated in riding horses, watching a horse performance, seeing the Prague riding police do a demonstration, and riding in Hucul horse-drawn carriages. Along with fishing, tree climbing, riding across a small pond in a basket, scooter racing, and chalk drawing the children and their parents also enjoyed the 3rd annual watercolor painting contest! It was a beautiful day full of fun and excitement for everyone who attended.
The celebration of the international children's day in Stromovka became a regular and favourite event for Prague children. This year we decided for a motto "horses" and it may be that the attendance was so large due to this fact as well. Children who came could see the performance of horse dancing, they could try riding hucul horses, they were able to ride in a horse-pulled carriage around the park and they could also see the performance of the professional police which uses horses as means of transport of policemen. As every year PA held watercolour painting competition and we had great prizes for the winners of this competition. There was chalk painting available, children could try tree climbing supervised by professional tree climbers who care after trees in Stromovka, they also could try out to ride in a basket over a small pond in the park, scooter race was available and kids could even try out real fishing. We also had the favourite jumping castle available for the kids and good refreshments.

PA held in cooperation with Fakultní základní škola PedF UK, Umělecká, Praha 7, summar urban camp in English for children. Twenty eight children from the elementary school learned English in a form of a fun way accompanied by native speakers volunteers who came to Prague from the US. Large portion of our volunteers was very young which allowed for beautiful friendships to arise between them and Czech children. The impact of friendly environment which we created for children was immense. Children learned English much faster and in much easier way then during their classroom studies. Children built up new vocabulary and enhanced it through ongoing conversation which was forced by constant presence of English native speakers. Apart from learning through conversation children also learned through games, sports, arts and crafts, music and drama. At the end of the week children together with voluteers presented a drama skit to their happy parents in English.
